WHAT IS METABOLIC TESTING?
RESTING METABOLIC ASSESMENT
This test evaluates your Resting Metabolic Rate (RMR). Your RMR is how many calories your body would burn if you were to lie or sit down and not move for 24 hours. These are the calories your body needs in order to sustain its vital processes such as breathing and circulation.
After this test, you will know your exact RMR which will let you will know how many calories to eat. A unique aspect of our test is to measure where these calories are coming from. Determining where your calories come from allow us to create a plan on what to eat and when. By knowing what, when and how many calories to eat, you will be more efficient and effective in achieving your goals!
VO2 MAX ASSESMENT
The exercise metabolic test is a maximal aerobic capacity test (VO2max), the gold standard of measuring your cardiovascular fitness. As you increase the intensity of exercise, your body changes what fuel source it uses in order to sustain the exercise.
At a low intensity, your body starts out using aerobic energy sources and gradually converts to anaerobic energy sources. This means you go from using more fat to using more carbohydrates as the fuel source as you increase your intensity. These are the different physiological ‘Zones’ of your metabolism and are mostly driven by your heart and lungs’ ability to provide sufficient oxygen to your body.
Ben's metabolic testing finds these physiological zones and uses your heart rate zones as a guide to where these critical metabolic changes occur. You will leave with a better understanding of how your body works during exercise and cardio exercise plan to follow based on your results.
